Michelle L. Bunting

Michelle L. Bunting is an ambitious entrepreneur who brings wide and varied business experience to The Camden Shipping Corporation®. Her extensive background in corporate management, operations, and administration has propelled several corporations into multi-million dollar “bottom-line” success.

Michelle started with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Rider University and an A.S. in Business Administration from Burlington County College. Michelle’s love of competition brought her to Rider University’s rifle team, where she qualified as a sharpshooter. Her passion for excellence made her the first female in Rider’s history to graduate from the U.S. Army Airborne School, Ft. Benning, Georgia, and acquire her jump wings.

When she graduated from college, Michelle decided that instead of accepting an entry-level position she would challenge herself and open a video store in the heart of her hometown.

After taking six years off to become a mother of three children, Michelle returned to the business world to co-form the first minority, female-owned pediatric medical daycare in the State of New Jersey. As President of Horizon Pediatric Systems, Inc., Michelle manages the operations and administration of a team of over 50 healthcare staff and consultants. Their goal is to offer comprehensive health care delivery systems that meet the complex and broad based needs of medically fragile children. Horizon Pediatric Systems operates Mercer County Children’s Medical Daycare, which provides comprehensive health care, early childhood education, and social services under one roof. The center opened in July of 2003 as Mercer County's first pediatric medical daycare and is the largest pediatric medical daycare facility in the State of New Jersey.

Michelle also co-founded and is President of the Camden Shipping Corporation® - the nation’s first female and minority-owned ocean transportation corporation. It was organized to provide ocean transportation services and to serve as a catalyst for the economic revival of the City of Camden via one of its most valuable resources – the South Jersey Port Corporation. She has committed years of teamwork, research, and dedication to co-found a company in a trillion dollar industry that is widely known to be unwelcoming to women owners. Today, Camden Shipping Corporation® is uniquely positioned to participate in the marine construction industry.

Community Involvement

Michelle is an advocate for women and families. Her advocacy grows out of her own family life and her empathy for the many issues confronting women and small children. Through her community involvements, Michelle has instituted educational programs for women business owners and created various support mechanisms for struggling women entrepreneurs. She has also developed programs that speak to disadvantaged minorities in her home county and throughout the state. From those efforts, models have been structured to address those issues. Also notably, Michelle has identified other “behind the scenes” women, from various backgrounds, who work tirelessly in the name of compassion and humanity concerning issues that impact women and families and assisted them with gaining new audiences and support for their community endeavors.

Michelle advances the plight of women and children by serving the following organizations:

Immediate Past President for the National Association of Women Business Owners South Jersey Chapter

Past Chairperson of the Burlington County Advisory Council on Women

Vice Chairperson 2000 - 2005, Servicios Latinos de Burlington County

Board Member of the New Jersey Commission on Early Childhood Education.

Board Member of American Cancer Society, Grand Gala Committee

She is also a member of the following organizations: Healthcare Businesswoman’s Association, U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce, the National Association of Child Care Professionals (NACCP), the Women’s President’s Organization, Asian Women In Business, The American and African Business Women’s Alliance (AABWA), The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and the Southern Jersey Association for the Education of Young Children.
